AZ Eats: Waste Not’s Celebrity Chef Challenge

Phoenix, Arizona Food Lovers. Here's a great opportunity to support great chefs of Arizona and help our most needy. Waste Not's Celebrity Chef Challenge kicks off April 1. Media celebrities and chefs pair up to aid the Valley’s hungry!

WHAT: Treat yourself to a meal out in April and you’ll satisfy hunger in more ways than one. During April, local media celebrities and chefs are pairing up for Waste Not’s 16th Annual Celebrity Chef Challenge, a friendly competition that raises money to help feed the Valley’s less fortunate. Celebrity Chefs and their restaurant partners will create and promote their featured entrees at participating restaurants throughout the month of April. Awards will be given to the teams that raise the most money and sell the most entrees.

Half of the proceeds from the sale of the Celebrity Chef featured entrees will benefit Waste Not, a non-profit organization that collects more than 1.5 million pounds of excess perishable food annually from restaurants, resorts, caterers and various food purveyors and delivers it to more than 80 recipient partners including various shelters, senior programs, transition homes, schools, day care centers and after school programs.

WHEN: April 1 through 30, 2006

I'm planning on blogging this event.
