A Sweet House Good Enough to Eat!
A Daily Eats first! Meet Brooke Greenstein, Food Architect. When Brooke sent me photos of the Gingerbread House she and her friend Sarah created I was totally delighted by the decoration, detail, and design. I had the pleasure of interviewing Brooke through email.I asked:
DE: Why a gingerbread house?Brooke: I don't know why a gingerbread house. I guess because it was holiday season and stores were selling them. My friend Sarah called me up and asked me if I wanted to make a gingerbread house.
DE: Was it fun building one?
Brooke: Yes, it was fun. There was lots of candy, some frosting and that big house. Of course it was fun! Why wouldn't it be?
DE: Where did you find the recipe?
Brooke: Well, Sarah's dad bought the house already put together. As for decorating, I did not follow a recipe. I put candy on wherever it fit and looked good. I usually like to be symmetrical, so most of it is symmetrical. Some of it's not. It all was what I thought looked best. Sarah's dad said, “We have plenty of candy. We don't need leftovers. Just cover the house with the candy." So that's what I did.
Well, Brooke you and Sarah did a wonderful job and thank you for sharing your experience with Daily Eats. Sounds like you had a fun time creating such a sweet dream house!
If I were building a ginderbread house I would have to sample the materials before decorating. My gingerbread house would look very minimalistic, because I would probably eat all the candies needed for decoration.
