A Visit to Smorgas Chef in Midtown Manhattan

I had the pleasure of having dinner with Chief Eater of Daily Eats, and friend, Tery Spataro on Friday evening. We went to a restaurant called Smorgas Chef. The genre can be described as Scandinavian Cuisine. It’s located in the heart of Turtle Bay (Midtown Manhattan)—on the corner of 2nd Ave. & 49th Street.
The Service was very good, as Tery and I had the Prefixe dinner special- Wild Alaskian Grilled Salmon (see picture above). It was prepared in a soy-marinade, served over a roasted bellpepper, with couscous, and a fresh yogurt and chive sauce. I must say this was an excellent choice. Prior to my main dish arriving, I had a cauliflower puree, which also delicious!

Next, came time for desert. Two wonderful treats were presented. First, came the Smorgas Chef waffles with a special sauce. The waffles were very tasty, as I would definitely recommend them. Tery also received a special chocolate moose with a small amount of sliced strawberries on top.
Overall, we had a great dining experience, as I would give Smorgas Chef in Midtown three chef’s hats out of four.
