Dijon on Your Burger President Obama?
Funny thing about this whole uproar of whether to use dijon mustard or ketchup on your burger is just a matter of freedom of taste. If you are a traditional you'll probably stick with what's traditional - ketchup. Nothing wrong with a ketchup on your burger. But if you're willing to be flexible and try something for instance to spice it up you'll almost certainly reach for some mustard. Nothing like changing things up. President Obama originally asked for spicy mustard. Btw Dijon is not exactly spicy there are some German mustard's that are extremely spicy. But Dijon on a cheddar cheese burger will add that certain flavor that only a cheese burger loving Dijon mustard using eater of well done burgers could appreciate.
I praise the President for being bold in his choice and showing us all there is more than ketchup choose from, giving us innovative thinking! I personally love grilled onions, swiss cheese, lettuce, tomato, and I enjoy my French fries with mayo, pass the Grey Poupon so that I can put swipe my grilled bun with some Dijon. What do you know Kraft put out a press release asking President Obama is he would pardon Dijon Loving Americans. Labels: cheeseburger, dijon, french fries, grey poupon, ketchup, kraft, obama
What do you eat when you have the winter blues?
Lately the winter blues have me down. I feel unmotivated and uninspired. Right now I'm staring into a big mug of coffee and looking for a sign in the stream as it whirls around. If only coffee talk. Maybe tea leaves have the response I'm looking for.
What I'm really looking for is purpose, isn't that what we are all craving? Beside dark rich chocolate now that's a cure for the winter blues.
I also find comfort in pasta. How about rigatoni with broccoli rabe and sweet and spicy sausage? I know I had this sometime this week but I can't remember where. I remember it was HK on 39th and 9th Avenue. It was great.
I also had risotto primavera with chicken at a little Italian place in Chelsea. I was there the other night with Ellen Sragow.
Lately I've been on risotto kick. Looking for a new recipe because I've exhausted Ruth Reichl's recipe for risotta primavera. Maybe that's what I need to shake the winter blues?
I had a turkey burger at the Better Burger in Hell's Kitchen the other day, I thought that would help ease me out the winter duldrums. But I was disappointed I thought I was getting ground meat turkey instead it was white meat paddy charcoal broiled. I asked the clerk at BB who assured me it would be a ground meat turkey burger. I should have ordered the burger.
Maybe a combination of dark chocolate, pasta and meatballs will do the trick?

Are you a fan of Cheesey dishes? S'Mac's for you
Ok I'm packing, no I'm not leaving NYC I'm just moving west. There hasn't been a lot of time for me to room NYC doing videos for Daily Eats. For mealtime I've been relaying on delivery.com and discovered S'Mac - oh yeah. The first time I ordered from S'Mac I had the the Goat cheese, spinach, kalamata olives and roasted garlic with whole grain pasta. Oh yummy cheesey heaven! The spinach balance the saltness from the olives and goat cheese and roasted garlic made it sweeter. The mixed green salad was as fresh as fresh picked. Lots of shedded carrots on top. Choice of Ken's Dressings. I thought I would only eat half and save the other half but I was hungry.I ordered again the other day, and ordered the Cheeseburger, mixed Cheddar and American cheese, ground beef, onions and garlic with whole grain pasta. Heavenly! Though I would have increased the ground beef and decreased the amount of cheese, but I guess this defeats the notion of Mac and Cheese. Ordered the mongo size so I got four meals out of it. BTW they give you a size choice: nosh, major munch, mongoCool simple speciality concept food! and very tasty! Brilliant! And excellent value for you dollar.S'Mac short for Sarita's Macaroni & Cheese located in the East Village. I haven't visited the location yet but will.
