Rocky Mountians Sure Can Cook!
Last week I was visiting Colorado. I spent a few days Denver and Boulder. Who would have known the food could be so spectacular.
Sushi Den was my favorite place in Denver. Michael Meyers, CTO of the Examiner took me there. Whatever Michael asked for the sushi chef did it right or should I say omakase. Michael knows his sushi and tell all about best sushi places worldwide.
There were unusual combinations of fish, spices, and sauces. Fresh delicious and through provoking are some adjectives that come to mind.
See for yourself!

Next stop on the Denver tour was Strings Restaurant. Jen Myronuk took Michael and myself there. Strings restaurant is located in Uptown section of Denver. Contemporary American style cruise. I recommend the Smoke Goat Cheese salad – sweet and refreshing. The sea scallops were delicious. It was the chocolate mousse cake that sent me on my way smiling.

After my food adventures in Denver I drove to Boulder, to meet Jen Myronuk and Ruthe Farmer for dinner at Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse. This a lovely place for afternoon tea or the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. A wonderful variety of teas I tried the Lady Grey, and Jen had an exotic tea, white jasmine moon which blossomed before our eyes. It was a delightful surprise. For entrée I had the Persian pomegranate pan seared salmon in a pomegranate reduction, black rice, roasted beets and carrots, and microgreens which was extraordinary. Boulder Dushanbe Teahouse is truly a restaurant that must be experienced while in Boulder! I will surely be back!

It’s so nice that Boulder restaurant owners take into consideration all dietary concerns by including soy or rice milk options.

Speaking of tea I couldn’t resist visiting Celestial Seasonings – full disclosure I worked on Celestial Seasonings’ strategy for the agency I worked for – I was thrilled to the have Celestial Seasonings as a client – I grew up drinking Celestial Seasoning. I helped create the Facebook strategy for PossibiliTEAS quiz. Try it out! So while in Boulder I took a drive to Celestial Seasonings.

Unfortunately, I was late for the tour but spent time sampling teas in the tea lounge and the gift shop is very impressive! Hain is the corporation which own Celestial Seasonings I buy most of their projects because of the natural ingredients. That why I love Celestial Seasonings! Next I will take the tour when I’m back in town --- hopefully I’ll be moving to CO permanently.
To sum up my adventure dining in Denver and Boulder is like skiing in Aspen and Vail --- AWESOME! and I know I'm going to love Colorado! I'll be there soon.

Where do you hulu?
Yeah that’s right I hulu too. I hulu while I’m cooking, but I’m not watching cooking shows I usually watch sci-fi. According to some researchers women don’t usually watching sci-fi…yeah right.
Here's a list of my favorite sci-fi on hulu:
Firefly – why did they ever cancel the series when it was on tv?
Battlestar Galactica – finally! A sci-fi show with guts
Total Recall 2070 – which is really so bad it’s good
Eureka
American Gothic
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – I think it’s better than the original
Medium
New Amsterdam
ChuckOld favorites like Highlander. I even watched The Sixth Sense - was weird.
Movies I watched
Astro Viz: Black Holes
Naked Lunch
Titan AE
While not cooking and watching I’ll watch and eat. While watching the season start of the Battlestar Galactica I prepared a pesto penne with a mixed green salad. I poured my self a glass of sparkling apple cider. For dessert I had double chocolate chocolate chip cookies.
BTW hulu doesn't require a TV just a computer and I don't have TV.

Let Her Eat Chocolate Cake!
I went to Market Café for the first time. I read about the quality of food from this Hell’s Kitchen eatery. I also heard about the service. Despite the pros and cons I wanted to experience this for myself, this is my neighborhood after all.
First Market Café is all about the food and the food is awesome. I had the fresh fish of the day which was Tilapia with golden potatoes and green beans. It was great!
Since this is a neighborhood place the service is the same service you expect from a “hometown” diner, waiter tries to make small talk and has to manage all the tables in the restaurant.
But Daniel was full of surprises. When I ordered the chocolate cake I was expecting “just” a slice of chocolate cake nothing exceptional. When Daniel finally brought me the chocolate cake, suspected they were still baking the cake when I ordered it, I gasped, it was the biggest slice of chocolate cake I’ve ever seen. So big even I was embarrassed.
The table next to mine sat four, one of the gentlemen, Richard Schoeller, offered to help with the cake if I joined his table. It was all kind of magical. There is something about chocolate cake which makes most people smile and something about a big slice of chocolate cake which makes most people want to help dig in. I loved to offer to share.
The chocolate cake lived up to my expectations of delicious cake. Go to Market Café go there to relax and enjoy the food, remember relax and enjoy! And try the chocolate cake with a friend or two.Market Cafe496 9th AveNew York, NY 10018

It's Easter - a Time for Rebirth and new beginnings
Aha rebirth I know what that’s all about. There was a time when I looked forward to Easter – mom’s Easter dinner was always so delicious. We would have ham, mashed potatoes, antipasto, Easter bread, ricotta cake with little slices of sausage. All the chocolate bunnies you could eat and more. The candy would last for weeks and weeks.
There was a time when we all looked forward to that time. But today I am on the East Coast and everyone is west. Times have changed. Mom, Dad, Joanne and Scott are in Vegas for Easter. Tom went hiking somewhere in San Diego. I slacked for most of the day watching old TV shows on hulu.com of course I posted reviews as I watched why else watch?
Honestly, I only slacked for 6 hours and I cleaned the house from top to bottom, did about 3 hours of work ---sent resumes out because I’m looking for a new start a rebirth---I want to use the magic of my digital marketing skills to benefit a CPG company or digital content provider/media property. Social media is the way to go that’s where I want to be. By the way if you haven’t already you should read my white paper on “everything your brand needs to know about social media, but was afraid to ask”. BTW thanks Alex Knoll for you great editing skills! I did manage to order dinner from Brother Jimmy's. I had sweet tea, shrimp plo boy, collard greens, bbq baked beans, and macaroni and cheese and topped it off with Mississppi Mud Pie. Ok it was a little over the top but delicious! I used seamlessweb.com to order. The order came quicker than I expected but it was missing the sweet tea and baked beans. When I called Brother Jimmy's this nice lady promptly had my missing items delivered.
Happy Easter! I hope you consumed all the delicious and scrumptious chocolate bunnies you possibly could.
