Ben’s Chili Bowl – Rocks

Ben’s Chili Bowl is one of those special places you have to visit. The oil grilled hotdog with Ben’s famous chili is AWESOME. When you bite into the crispy skin of a Ben’s Chili Dog your tongue is in for a treat. This tactile moment includes crunchiness, spiciness, heat, and all the goodness of premium pork hot dog.

Ben’s is more than great dogs and chili Ben’s is about our history. Ben’s was founded in 1958. Ten years later when Dr. Martin Luther King was assassinated riots erupted Ben’s was sacred ground and even now a celebrated place.

I appreciate Amy Smith, Burson-Marsteller taking me on this delicious and delightful journey through history and chili dogs.

Office Cooking Phenomenon

I’ve been in my new job for about 5 months this is my first experience in which my co-workers cook at the office. I’m not talking about microwaving last night’s leftovers. No I mean cook.

It all started with OJ, who use to work at Marsteller. He would cook on whim bring in his portable grill. It could be hot dog Friday or grill cheese Wednesday. He made a surprise visit one day when I wasn’t travel. He brought his grill, a package of hot dogs, can of Hormel Chili, onions and buns. Sure hot dogs are hot dogs but breaking bread with co-workers is a way to better relationships. That was dam good experience. Thanks OJ.

Another office cooking trend started by another co-worker, making eggs with an automatic poached egg cooking device. I haven’t tried this out yet. I noticed it started with one person huddled around the microwave next it became a line.

I’m not sure if this is a sign of the times but it is sure interesting.

Duchess vs SuperDuper Winney

Fairfield, CT - Daily Eats was going through Connecticut on the hunt for hot dogs. We orginally wanted to stop at Superduper Winney but they were closed. We opted for the Duchess dining experience.

What’s Labor Day weekend without Hotdogs?

Coney Island, NY – Labor Day Weekend is the last week of summer vacation. And it’s all about hot dogs. Porscha and I went to one of the most famous hot dog places in the world – Nathan’s of Coney Island. Porscha gives us her opinion on Nathan’s corn dogs.

Trailer Park Eats

View from 41 Street between 3rd and Lexington, seeing the smoke swirling upward. It was one of those horrible days where the Manhattan’s infrastructure decided to cave in. The blast was completely unexpected, made most of us feel like it was déjà vu all over again. I just happen to be going home when it happened.

I don’t know about you but I was completely stressed out after the incident. I needed comfort food and a good friend. I called Bud Lavery who suggested Trailer Park Lounge on West 23rd.

Bud had a turkey burger and I had the very fat beef hotdog with sweet potato fries.
The hot dog was great and sweet potato fries nicely done.
To add to this already highly carbs dinner I ordered the moonpie. Not exactly tasting like the moonpie I remember as a kid but nevertheless I ate it all of it.
not a great look for me, that's a great looking moonpie

The decor is worth seeing at the Trailer Park. I describe it as Kitsch city with all sorts of blast from the past knickknacks and widgets. Trailer Park Lounge is located on West 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenue.
